Sacred Tradition, Living Culture

A celebration of Indonesia’s rich performing arts heritage.

Indonesia is home to some of the world’s most profound artistic traditions—expressions that combine spirituality, community, and centuries of cultural memory. Through music, dance, shadow puppetry, and ritual, these forms continue to evolve while preserving their sacred roots.

Court Dances of Yogyakarta

The royal court dances of the Kraton Yogyakarta reflect an elegant and refined aesthetic that dates back to the 7th century. Performed with grace and restraint, these dances are deeply spiritual, combining influences from Hindu, Islamic, and Javanese traditions. They are accompanied by the majestic sound of Javanese Gamelan, and can only be presented with the presence or blessing of a member of the royal family.

EPPAX works closely with the Royal Court Dancers of Yogyakarta, creating international opportunities for these sacred performances to be experienced in authentic form—always with deep respect for their ritual importance.

Global Participation Proposal

In partnership with local Javanese Gamelan ensembles outside Indonesia, EPPAX proposes collaborative performances featuring the Court Dancers of Yogyakarta. This initiative allows local musicians across Europe and beyond to share the stage with royal performers, honoring tradition while building international cultural bridges.

We invite gamelan ensembles, festivals, and cultural institutions to join us in this unique exchange—bringing the living legacy of Yogyakarta to global audiences.
